If you are new to the world of Podcasting and want to learn how you can get your podcast discovered, here are some tips to help you.
Tip 1: Share your podcast to more than one podcast platform
What is a Podcast Platform?
A podcast platform is usually an app that can be downloaded to your phone, tablet or computer.
The app allows the listener to discover and listen to different podcasts, download episodes, subscribe to shows, rates and reviews of favourite podcasts plus more.
Sharing your podcast to more than one of the more popular podcast platforms will help increase your podcast’s reach and broaden your audience.
Five of the most popular podcast platforms that you could submit your podcast to are:
- iTunes/Apple Podcasts
- Stitcher
- Spotify
- Google Podcast
- TuneIn
Most platforms require you to sign up to their directory either as a content provider or provide a link to submit your podcast.
Tip 2: Did you know that you can use Zoom to record your podcasts?
Zoom is the most popular platform for online meetings but what about recording your podcast?
Zoom’s become one of the go-to online interview platforms for podcasting due to its high-quality video recording capability and ease of use for remote podcast interviews.
So if you haven’t already found a podcast host try Zoom!
Tip 3: Three key pointers to remember when creating your podcasts!
1. Consistency in releasing podcasts – If you decide to release a podcast weekly or fortnightly make sure you are prepared to do work that is required. You need to ensure that you have enough content to follow through on. As you build your podcast, consistency will keep your listeners tuned in.
2. Developing a connection with your listeners – In your podcast, it’s important to be real. By being yourself and this might mean being vulnerable at times, your listeners will be able to relate better with you and allow you to form a connection with your audience.
3. Length of Podcast – It doesn’t matter how long or short your podcast is, as long as it is valuable and informative to your listeners. At the end of the day, providing value or sharing your knowledge with them is what matters.
Tip 4: Outsource your podcast admin and processes to a Podcast Manager!
As a Podcast Manager, I can help you get your podcast up and running or take over the process to give you back time in your day
Some of the tasks I can help with include coordinating interviewees, assembling your podcasts and uploading them to a podcast platform, transcribing podcast notes to putting together processes for your team to follow.
